“Sam was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in September of 2013. We were living in Australia at the time and moved to Manitoba halfway through his treatment. Sam completed his treatment in November 2016 and had his final aftercare appointment early this year. The resilience gained through going through cancer and moving to a different country have helped to shape him into an empathetic and thoughtful young man.

Sam's hard work and resiliency also contributed to his graduation with distinction, winning the Governor General's Medal for the highest grade 11 and 12 average overall.“

Congratulations, Sam! Your strength and determination through cancer and change have shaped a remarkable young man. Graduating with distinction and earning the Governor General’s Medal is an incredible achievement. Well done! ❤️🎗️
