I’m pretty sure donations have pretty much come to a close, or close to. There are a few who mailed in their donations, so I’m going to venture to say that we reached a mind blowing $27,000!!! This will go far beyond meals during lockdowns. We hope to continue to bless the caregivers on the ward for quite some time. When I posted what we were doing to help the caregivers up on the Childrens cancer ward, I just wanted to let our supporters know how we are spending the funds they so generously give. When your child is diagnosed with cancer, it’s incredibly scary. There are so many fears. I can’t even imagine adding Covid to that yet. The Candlelighters board decided that we needed to do something with the outbreak currently happening on the children’s cancer ward. These families need to isolate (some for 12 days) and can’t leave their rooms for food. The children get their meals, but there is currently only a bag lunch provided for the parent. Covid has been a real struggle for many charities. For us it’s not the fundraising that’s been a challenge, since we have been fundraising online since 2012. What we have struggled with since 2020 is that we can’t meet these families in person.
