2020 Childhood Cancer Survivor Graduate Nathaniel!

Meet Nathaniel: “Nathaniel (Nat) graduated from River East Collegiate. Despite missing almost two years of high school because of his disease (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) and treatment (chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant), Nat was able to graduate on-time and with his peers. He will be attending the University of Manitoba in the fall, taking courses in the biological sciences. He hopes to work in the fields of zoology or medicine.” Congratulations on your achievements Nat! We wish you all the best in the future! 2020 Childhood Cancer Survivor Graduate Ross!

Meet Ross. “In April of 2016, Ross was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of 14. He went through 3 and a half years of chemotherapy, and thanks to the doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba, Ross is now a proud graduate of West Kildonan collegiate! Ross will be attending Red River college in January to pursue his culinary arts dreams.” Congratulations on your accomplishments Ross! Perseverance pays off. All the best as you pursue your dreams! 2020 Childhood Cancer Survivor Graduate Jesse!

Meet Jesse. In May 2007, at the age of 5, Jesse was diagnosed with Leukemia, and finished treatment in 2010. He graduated from Collège Jeanne-Sauvé in June of 2020 amid the covid-19 pandemic, and plans to attend the University of Winnipeg for Environmental Sciences in 2021 . Jesse plans to use his $500 childhood cancer survivor graduation gift card to help pay for a laptop. This will help Jesse’s continued studies. Thank you Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Support Group! 2020 Childhood Cancer Survivor Graduate Angela!

We are very excited to start sharing our 2020 graduates with you. Meet Angela. Here’s what her mom wrote: “At the age of 2 1/2 our bouncy, happy, curly little blonde Angela was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. It was the worst of the bad, stage 4... high risk... unfavourable... She endured more than a year of chemo, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiation, and oral chemo. Her biggest wish was to go to school. We were afraid she wouldn't even make it to Preschool. Her journey was not an easy one. She had so much love to help her along the way. Those same people who became family carried us through too.
